Multiple-invariant space-variant optical processors.
Multiple invariant optical correlators are considered. By multiple invariance, we mean invariance to more than one distortion parameter per axis of the processor. Space variant optical processors using coordinate transformations and a new phase detection scheme are used to realize such correlators. A theoretical analysis and experimental verification are included.
متن کاملWaveform considerations in space-variant optical processors.
Space-variant optical processors are the subject of considerable research.1 One of the most promising methods by which such systems can be realized is the application of coordinate transformations to the input data.2' 3 The extension of this technique to produce optical Mellin transforms4 and distortion-invariant pattern-recognition systems has been reported over the past three years.k7 Of part...
متن کاملDeformation invariant optical processors using coordinate transformations.
A general formulation of the properties, optical synthesis, and existence of space variant optical processors using coordinate transformations is provided. General expressions that the coordinate transformations must satisfy are described. Specific examples of the use of the methodology to determine the existence of and methods for the realization of space variant optical processors are include...
متن کاملTranssaccadic memory of multiple spatially variant and invariant object features.
Transsaccadic memory is a process by which remembered object information is updated across a saccade. To date, studies on transsaccadic memory have used simple stimuli-that is, a single dot or feature of an object. It remains unknown how transsaccadic memory occurs for more realistic, complex objects with multiple features. An object's location is a central feature for transsaccadic updating, a...
متن کاملLinear space-variant optical processing of 1-D signals.
In the past, most optical data processing systems have been restricted to performing linear space-invariant operations. However, a wide class of interesting data processing operations require linear space-variant filtering. Three methods for performing linear space-variant processing of 1-D inputs are described. Experimental results obtained with all three systems are presented, and their relat...
